Dave King and Linda Kuhn offer the combined experience of over 80 years in ministry. Both are ordained ministers affiliated with the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. and have worked with Presbyterian, United Church of Christ, Lutheran (ELCA), and United Methodist congregations through the years. They offer skills in conflict resolution, mission planning and strategy, transitional ministry, clergy support, and helping churches “at risk.”
Dave served a long-term pastorate with a small membership Presbyterian church in rural Wisconsin for 28 years as a bi-vocational, or tentmaker, pastor. He has also served congregations in yoked situations. He is a trained mediator and has facilitated resolution of a wide range of relational, religious and political conflict during the past 47 years. Dave has also helped congregations with limited options to develop creative pastoral staffing arrangements.
Linda is an experienced interim minister who has worked intensively with Presbyterian and United Church of Christ congregations for the past 31 years. During these pastoral transitions, she has helped churches with mission planning, empowered church leadership, and addressed issues of conflict, grief, and dysfunction. She has consulted with pastoral search committees toward successful outcomes. Linda has also been a hospice chaplain and campus minister in her 37 years of ordained ministry.
Dave and Linda have together formed Sand Bur Consulting in order to be of service to the Church in its efforts to be a faithful and effective witness to the good news of grace, transformation, and reconciliation. Our approach relies on the resources of Biblical faith, respects the theological and cultural framework of congregations, and takes a wholistic and organic view of the church as the Body of Christ. We tailor our proposals to each individual situation, with attention to process as well as outcome.
